Questions you might have about Memeoirs.
How do I choose which e-mails to publish? Do I have to upload a text file?Memeoirs makes the process of generating your book fully automatic. We choose your e-mails, so you don't have to. All you need to do is
choose a time period, some of your contacts and have fun creating a personalized book! Here is a detailed description of the procedure.
Still, in case you actually feel like selecting which individual e-mail messages to feature in your book, we also provide you with a way. Simply group all the messages you wish to publish under one label / folder. Read more here.
So, how does it work? How do my e-mails go from mailbox to book?Excellent question, we're glad you ask. There's this little man, knowledgeable in what is good or bad writing. He's also a very fast reader.
No, seriously. Your Memeoirs is made by selectively publishing the e-mails from your contacts that fall into the time frame you choose. That said, newsletters, account activation e-mails, and all that
non-personal mailing will be discarded for you. Also, we try our best to purge the body of the e-mails of redundant content.
I can make a book with my personal e-mails, cool idea. Is that it?No, by all means. Go wild, use it to archive that research project that had its own e-mail address, to file your company's yearly communications, record the days you and your current wife were all but flirting couple.
How long does it take to make a Memeoirs? After you purchased a Memeoirs it takes one business day to bring it in the physical realm. We ship with regular post, so allow an additional 2-9 business days before you receive it.
Will anyone read my e-mails? Or spam my contacts? We are heavy web users ourselves, and we value our privacy immensily. Abusing your data in any way would strongly violate the on-line principles we believe in, and stand for.
Do you also print pictures, or any other attachments on my e-mails?The core idea behind Memeoirs is to perpetuate meaningful communication between people. While the occasional picture would help enhance the
context of those exchanges, the message is essentially conveyed through text. Power to the word!
I noticed you support a restricted set of email providers. What about other ones? What about Outlook and other email clients? We have plans to support any e-mail provider that offers IMAP with their service. We are also researching how to serve Hotmail users. You can refer to this blogpost for learning how to make a book with your emails from Outlook or similar clients.
Will this work if I forward my emails from an unsupported provider to a supported one (eg. yahoo/gmail/aol/aim)?Most certainly not. We do our best to keep your Memeoirs free from unwanted content like replies, spam or those lenghty forward chains. Most forwarded messages get filtered in the process. If you want to make a Memeoirs with a third party provider, you have to first import your emails in one of our supported provider.
Does it matter in what language my e-mails are written in?Yes. Memeoirs fully supports languages with latin characters, and it has been thoroughly tested in English. So, unless you have a Greek pen friend, or a lost Russian cousin, you should be good.
Nonetheless, full support for internationalization is also coming. Please bear with us.
Why print e-mails in a book? Isn't that too old school? We believe there should be a way of browsing our most precious and intimate memories in an analog, durable mean. Read more on the About page.
Memeoirs?! You mean Memoirs, sans 'e', right?Wrong. The name stems from the conjugation of the word "Meme" with Memoirs. A Memoir of your personal Memes. Voilá.
Books are made out of paper. Why are we still killing trees in this day and age? This is actually a not-so-frequently asked question, sadly. We wish the issue was raised more often. Our printing partner Unibook uses FSC Certified paper and paper board for the hardcover books. Their current paper stock, used for the book pages, is also FSC certified at approximately 30% post recycled. We're trying to make a difference.
